Our Story
My name’s Jack, my pronouns are He/Him, and I live in Coventry (UK). I came out as a trans man in 2015, and now I run Spectrum with my two sisters: Jessica, and Lily.
10 years ago, good quality shapewear vests were inaccessible for many people in the UK and Europe. Customs and delivery charges from reputable companies in the US were extortionate, so we had to go for cheaper, lower quality and often unsafe options.
After I got an injury from wearing one of these compression vests, I decided I wanted to do something about it, so I started Spectrum Outfitters.
The company was founded to provide a safe, affordable, and accessible option for queer people in the UK and Europe.
Our Fabrics
The Outer
The outer fabric is an eco-sustainable techno-fabric made with regenerated ECONYL® Nylon yarn, with Healthy Seas certification. It is buttery soft, stretchy and breathable, while being resistant to chlorine, oil and suncream - meaning it's perfect for swimming.
The Mesh
The mesh fabric is lightweight and durable. It is a stretchy fabric which moulds to your body. Its high breathability allows you to keep cool easily. We locally source this from the UK.
The Inner
Our short and long chest binder use a 100% cotton front panel, which does not stretch. This is what helps to create the perfect flat chest. The fabric is incredibly strong and durable, whilst being soft and gentle on the skin.
As a small but fast-growing company, we are constantly improving our processes.
Our suppliers are Oeko-Tex certified. We have continued our commitment to the environment and making responsible choices. We are also committed to being transparent with our customers while we do so.
Where possible, our items are locally produced - with our closest production taking place in Nottingham, UK. The large majority of our production takes place in Morocco. This is in an audited factory and we are in regular communication with our supplier around production standards.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our brand from the materials and manufacturing methods we use, to the premium finish of the product and the plastic free packaging and delivery.
Our commitment to quality means our shapewear is more expensive to produce and the process takes longer, but for us its worth it.
